Do you want to build a scarecrow?

Annual Scarecrow Competition 2018 – Saturday 26th May

Last year’s scarecrows (the Hungry Caterpillar, Gruffalo, Gangsta Granny, Stick Man and all the other wonderful scarecrows) have worn themselves out!  We need a new crop of scarecrows for our fields – the pigeons are getting rather fat…can you help?

We have decided to make scarecrow month May rather than March this year, it’s always been too cold in March so we are hoping for warmer weather for our annual event.  The deadline for entries this year is 18th May and the judging day is Saturday 26th May.

There is lots of scope for imagination, but there are a few guidelines. Your scarecrow needs to be:

  • Made from recycled materials
  • Able to stand up to the strong winds on our fields
  • Will scare the birds (shiny, noisy, moving etc)
  • A character from your favourite book

The competition is open to everyone, individuals, families and groups.  Just let us know you are taking part by emailing admin@golocalfood.org.uk by the 18th May 2018 and we’ll confirm arrangements for the day with you.  Bring your scarecrow to the field 10-11am on Saturday 26th May, or arrange an alternative time.  There will be activities and refreshments on competition day.  Judging will take place at 12 noon – and there will be prizes!

Good Luck!
